From Lisa Kluver, the foster home for Misty and pups!

I never knew things like this took place. How everyone came together to save these puppies and Misty. My name is Lisa Kluver. I would like to thank everyone for giving me and my family the chance to help these puppies get a better home. They are all doing wonderful. It has taken 3-4 days for them to loosen up and act like puppies again. After school they don't spend much time on the ground. There are 4 kids and 4 puppies. The little ones are so cute but I have a fancy for labs so Russell better get adopted quickly or he may be stuck here for good. I have been working on the flea problem. It has been difficult with their age and all but I think I got it under control. They are going fast, all that is left is Cocco, Russell and Misty. All are going to great homes with lots of love to give them. Again you all are amazing people that do amazing things. Thank you, Lisa KluverAlbert Lea, MN

Hello everyone!
I want to say thank you to everyone for giving so generously of your time, energy, gas and love to these guys over the last two weekends. It does my heart good to know such great people!

I talked to the foster home this morning as I was a little concerned about Russell but apparently he's doing great. He does have a lump on his knee and one on his ribcage that we're going to get checked out this week. The foster mom said that he needs to go quickly as her and her son are falling in love!!!! How cool is that for him! They did have to separate Misty from the pups as she decided that she didn't like Russell so well but no one seems to be having a problem with that! Russell gets along great with all the babies and it sure sounds like he was a hit on the transport. Like Carol said, maybe Russell needed rescuing more than the other pups that were given away at the last minute. The foster family has two kids plus two foster kids so they're having a blast taking care and playing with the babies.

The pictures are of Melissa and husband at the Story City hand off and Michelle from our group holding Russell.

Sam is doing very well. What a different boy he's become since arriving. I think that he likes hanging in the house and I know that he LOVES going for walks. What a gentleman on a leash also, I wish that my four legged kids were that nice on a leash! Riley is also doing well and getting quite a little belly on him! He's the black and white pup in the picture who I've adopted.

One Last Thing Before I Hand this Over,...

At the end of these transports there is always a mix of emotion,....hapiness, that a few more of our homeless pets are on their way home!
A Sadness, that after a few days, or a weeks worth emails, and phone calls, these folks that I have bonded with will go their seperate ways,...
the energy flow will be gone,...

Every transport takes on it's own personality,... some are very enjoyable, some challenging, some happy and sad, and some a real pain in the a--!

There times when I have been truly overwhelmed, by people's generosity to donate their time, energy, and gasoline, to help one of our fur babies home, or to the safety of a boarding facility,.....

All of you folks that I have come to know over these past few weeks, you have been nothing but pleasure,....to work with. The heart of true rescuers lies within you all,...it has been an honor to have been your transport coordinator,....without YOU folks out there on the highways , NONE of this could be possible,....dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, many more would perish in shelters, or in the streets,.. alone , and scared,...
With Heartfelt Thanks, and a happy heart, to have gotten the chance to meet some of you, as well as work with you for the first time, I will say good bye for now. If there is ever anything I can do for any of you,.....you know where to find me,...

Tales of a Transport!

We were't home a half an hour and Christy called and they were on their final leg! Wow, what a day!!

hey everyone, we just walked in the door, the pups are headed north, and Ally is VERY,VERY, busy, checking out the new digs!!!!!

Hi everyone!!

The pups are off!! They left at 8:00 a.m. this morning with Nancy. OK Westie Rescue's volunteer, Connie, named the pups when she picked them up yesterday. I fixed up rescue quilts right quick late last night so each one has one of our rescue quilts with their name on it (we have a volunteer who makes them for all of our rescues, I then take them and put the rescues names on them). We also sell them for our fund raising efforts if anyone is interested We sell them for $20.00, $25.00 with them name of your choice.

The black lab pup is Russell, he is quite large and very scared - he needs lots of TLC and loves to be held. The two little pups are Coco, a little girl who looks a little like a German Shepherd mix, she is black and brown. Oreo, the little white boy with two big black spots looks like he is part Great Pryness, he is a little chubby. Russell is eaten up with ticks and Oreo and Coca are covered with fleas, we tried to get as many off as we could but they do need to be dipped. All 3 are very sweet, they all need puppy food as they have been eating adult food.

Give Russell a extra big hug for me when he gets home!

Hi all,

Well, as you can see the pups are well on their way by now. I was late picking them up from Theresa (I'm so sorry, Theresa) but we arrived in Blackwell right on time.....thank goodness the OK Highway Patrol was sleeping in this morning. Russell (little black lab pup) was a dream traveling. He decided that the back seat was his place to be and he stayed right there until time to transfer him to Roy in Blackwell. He must be housebroken as he didn't potty in the car but Roy said that Russell was about to explode when he was taken for a potty run. The pups pooped in the crate just before we arrived in Blackwell so both of the quilts are soiled but Roy put one of them in a plastic bag and the other (which wasn't nearly as soiled as the other) one I folded over and laid back in the crate so they wouldn't have to be on just the crate. Roy had a puppy pad though so we laid it on top of the quilt. Roy took pictures of me and all the pups at Blackwell at the transfer and then they were off. Once I get a copy of the pics I'll post on the pups' blog. That Russell is precious and so loving. It was hard for me to say bye to them all though.

The quilts that Theresa talks about are precious. And they do a wonderful job of putting the name on them.

Hello,

Susan, you walked in your door shortly before I walked in mine. I believe my trip was about 20 miles shorter, but I stopped for supper; maybe you didn't.

Sean transferred the dogs to me, in Kansas City, Kansas, around 4:15pm. The setter was very squirmish, and Sean tied her to one of my rear seatbelt buckles. As a result, she stayed put and I didn't hear one peep from her the entire trip. The three puppies were all crated; the large one in a medium size cat carrier I brought along. The large pup and one of the two wee ones were also quiet the entire trip. The other wee one whimpered once and that was it. I have never transported that many dogs with that little noise. I suppose all three pups were sleeping. I delivered them to Susan around 5:45pm.

By the time Sean got to Tom In KC. it was pouring down rain!! After a little coaxing all were loaded into Tom's car and headed to me, along I - 35 North.

We met about 5:45 pm, and jumped back on the highway and hit Des Moines about 7:15 or so, Melissa and her crew swept those sweet puppers up in their arms (literally) and off they went to meet the last and final leg of this transport!

After these few postings I will be handing off the "administrative position" of this blog , to one of you with a '"universal" password so you all can have acsess, to postings and photo uploading, etc.
Ally will split off and have her own to follow her through her adventures, we will send you all updates,.....but only in return for updates on the "OK PUPPERS!" to include Momma and Sammy as well!

Roy just called and he has handed off the puppies to Lu Ann and they are headed for Emporia,KS. So far we are on schedual, once Sean gets into Topeka, and picks up Ally from the shelter, and then back on the road again ,we may be a little behind, ( I forgot to allow e xtra time, opps!).

Will keep you all updated, and look for photo's later on in the day!
